P&G India to invest Rs 2,000 cr to set up export hub in state

Procter & Gamble India has announced that it will invest Rs 2,000 crore to establish a new personal healthcare manufacturing facility in Gujarat. The investment was revealed by L V Vaidyanathan, CEO of P&G India, following a meeting with the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel. This facility will build upon P&G India’s existing manufacturing operations, which consist of eight plants located throughout the country, and further strengthen its presence in Gujarat. P&G already possesses a manufacturing plant in Sanand, Ahmedabad, which has been in operation since 2015.

The new facility, spanning an area of 50,000 square meters in Sanand, will be responsible for producing products in the segments of digestives and wellness, which are part of P&G’s global healthcare product portfolio. The plant is designed to be fully automated, incorporating vision systems for quality control, robotic equipment for material movement, and operator cockpits.

“We anticipate that this manufacturing site will also serve as an export hub, providing various opportunities for the local community. Gujarat and P&G India have enjoyed a longstanding association through our existing plant in Sanand, Ahmedabad,” stated Patel.

The facility is projected to be operational within the next few years and is expected to become a global export hub for P&G, enabling P&G India to cater to consumers worldwide. This investment by P&G India will generate numerous direct and indirect jobs, significantly stimulating the local economy.

“The establishment of the new manufacturing facility in Gujarat underscores our confidence in the substantial growth potential that India offers. Through this new facility, our aim is to transform India into a global export hub for P&G,” declared Vaidyanathan.
